What is Writing-PAD?
Writing-PAD is designed to promote the adoption of models of good practice that encourage inclusive approaches to the purposes and
possibilities of writing. Such models will bridge the gap between studio-based practice and academic theory that frequently characterises Higher
Education in Art & Design.
Writing-PAD therefore has 3 aims:
•To raise awareness of the common problems that many Art & Design students encounter with traditional writing practices.
•To raise awareness of alternative models of good practice. This will necessarily impact on the debate surrounding how institutions accommodate
such models in their assessment criteria.
•To consult institutions in the implementation of similar new, and more inclusive models of
good practice of writing. Through such models the writing process will become an integral part of students’ practice.
Writing PAD combines
various inter-related elements to realise these goals, such as the development of resources, workshops and case studies in partnership with up to 12
other institutions offering Higher Education in Art & Design.
